Backpack

We work alongside local partners that organize deliveries through Mississippi Food Network, to provide weekend meals to children in need. Also working with the schools, every Thursday our members gather to pack 5th graders “backpacks” to send home with the students on Friday to ensure that they have enough to eat until they return to school on Monday. We have also been so grateful to partner with United Produce, Co. who have graciously provided these students with fresh fruit to be sent home with their meals, as well.

An added piece to the project that we love coordinating each year, is shopping for educational toys and games to promote literacy in the homes of the 5th grade backpack children and their siblings. While a gift is not the reason for the season, no child should have to wake up to no presents on Christmas morning.

For the 2025-2025 school year, we serve a total of 37 students each week!
